MeadWestvaco Is Hooked On SPX100s | ||
![]() | MeadWestvaco Corporation in Covington, VA was experiencing significant down time due to frequent mechanical seal failures. They were using a progressive cavity (PC) pump to handle a coating application. However, due to the corrosive nature of the product that was being pumped the PC pump was constantly failing, which required shutting down the system for maintenance on a regular basis. After discussing the issue with Watson-Marlow, Kevin Moyers of MeadWestvaco decided to try an SPX100. The trial was a success and Kevin now uses the SPX100 to feed a recirculation loop, which has reduced downtime to an annual hose change, done during a mill outage. MeadWestvaco has also purchased additional SPX50s to help keep maintenance costs at the lowest its been in years.
