Faster production and virtually no downtime

Peristaltic pumps, manufactured by Watson-Marlow and installed on the UV varnish tower coater of MAN Roland R700 series printing press, have reduced downtime, increased production speed and proved their reliability in use. Two Watson-Marlow Pumps 720 series pumps are now fitted on every R700 series press, one pump accurately meters the water-based varnish from a container to a weir on the press, and the other, fitted with slightly larger bore tubing, scavenges the excess varnish and returns it for re-circulation.

Specially built for MAN Roland, the Watson-Marlow pumps contain the viscous varnish within a tube from source to delivery. Another advantage of using peristaltic pumps is in the saving of waste varnish at start-up, as there is no necessity to prime the system. Long-life Marprene tubing is fitted in the pumps, which run for between 8 and 16 hours each day. Tube changes are the only pump maintenance required and this is a rapid procedure which can be carried out in a couple of minutes without tools. Further more, if press maintenance is required, the system can be completely drained, minimizing more waste.
